Ongpin Manosa, Chinese Restaurant in Binodo, Manila

Aug 9, 2020

One of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Binondo. Located along Ongpin St in Manila, this restaurant is near near a lot of jewelry stores. Street parking is a bit difficult but I recommend either to take a Grab or have a car and driver standing by while waiting for your order.

This restaurant is really known for its Maki which is a thick glutinous soup with bits of meat. The soup itself is very tasty and sometimes comes with bihon (aka noodles).  I usually also order some siew mai to complement this dish.

Due to the COVID and quarantine restrictions they are unable to take on dine in customers but they are open quite early for take out. I arrived at around 10 am and they were already ready to serve customers.

I spoke to the owner and unfortunately they are not listed on Grab or FoodPanda apps. They are quite popular that the lady that was waiting in line with me for her order told me she came as far as San Pedro Laguna just to buy their food, and this was at 10am on a Sunday.

I hope that old restaurants like this continue to operate inspite of losing revenue from not having dine in operations. For those that want to try their food, I recommend to visit them early in the morning or have a Grab or LalaMove rider pick up your order from them. It takes them about 15 minutes to prepare the food not unless it is one of those items that are already ready to serve.

Here is their location on Google Maps
